Compelled by the Lord to write this prayer for Veterans Day, the task seemed too honorable for me, a non-veteran. Never wanting to shirk duties to the Lord, the prayer was created, from the heart. Feel free to adjust and personalize the prayer as much as you think appropriate.
God bless you for praying for our veterans, and may God richly bless all the brave men and women who serve and have served our country well.
Dear God Almighty,
Maker of the heavens and earth,
and all good things both visible and invisible.
We raise our prayers towards You and your Son,
the Lord of the Heavenly Armies, Jesus Christ.
By the indwelling powers of the Holy Spirit
we, together, unite in our praises towards you, O God.
We recognize you, and you alone, as the One who
establishes all peoples, all countries, and all nations.
These things are all created and maintained by you
for your eternal purposes and your ultimate glory.
O God, we praise your holy, blessed Name,
the Name that is above all other names.
We thank you, Lord, for establishing the United States of America,
a nation built-up from the foundations you first established in your Word.
You've granted us citizens the precious freedoms due to all men,
but, only attained by few.
Forgive us if we take these blessings for granted, forgive us for
foolishly neglecting our national duties, and for complacency towards freedom.
Lord, smite the enemies, those within and outside our nation
who trample underfoot our governing documents. Squash their rebellious spirits.
The Constitution of the United States is worthy to protect, honor, and cherish.
The Founding Fathers of this country were guided by you, Spirit of God.
You wrote the documents through these men of great dignity. We honor you, O Lord.
You've stood by those who fought for our freedoms, and still do,
for you are the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Right will always be right, wrong will always be wrong, and evil will always be evil.
Bless this nation, in spite of our weaknesses, because you established us to protect Israel.
Guide us back to where we value that distinct honor.
You, O Lord, were with every man and woman as they placed this nation before themselves.
Today, we honor those who sacrificed their lives for the great U.S.A.
These brave men and women decided to fight for our freedoms.
They risked everything, some dying, some injured, all sacrificing personal comfort.
Thank you, Lord, for every brave soldier,
every mighty veteran of these United States of America.
They value and respect You, they value all people, and they value the freedoms for which we stand.
Lord, continue to protect and provide for our brave warriors,
those veterans who serve You, by serving the citizens of our great nation.
Keep them from harm, and shield them from unrighteous discrimination.
We offer this prayer for Veterans Day up to You,
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
